Tambiloc

After receiving her license, she worked as a chemist for a nickel mining company in Palawan for seven years. She availed early retirement but felt the need to practice chemistry and so joined the Department in 1991 initially as a University Research Associate and then became a University Researcher.

Ms. Tambiloc assists in laboratory sessions of both undergraduate and graduate students. She also handles extension services for Environmental Health and Industrial Hygiene. As a licensed chemist, she performs Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry to determine blood lead levels.  In addition, she was involved in researches on health care waste, chemical safety and asbestos among others.

She attended international training on Air Pollution Treatment (Tokyo, Japan), Environmental Health Effects, and Hazard Recognition, Evaluation and Control (University of Minnesota, USA).  She also underwent trainings on Control of Hazardous Substances, Indoor Environmental Quality, Advanced Global Harmonization System Training and Practical and Cost effective Solutions to Laboratory Chemical Wastes.

Through her efforts, the Bureau of Health Facilities and Services, Department of Health awarded the Department the accreditation on Laboratory for Drinking Water Analysis.  The laboratory is also a participant in the Lead and Multi-element Proficiency (LAMP) Testing Program of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
